My Starlink dish arrived July 22, 2021. It was incredibly easy to set up. There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to set up a Starlink dish. My previous internet provider maxed out at 21 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up. Which means my internet speeds usually topped out at 18Mpbs down and 1.5Mbps up. Frustrating to say the least.
Starlink’s speed tests are impressive. Before Starlink I would have to upload large media files at night, with the rest of the network shutdown. Yesterday I uploaded videos – while the network was up and running – in 8 minutes. I am impressed.

July 25, 2021
It’s been three days since we installed the Star Link connection. We are running two networks until the rest of my hardware arrives. I was not expecting Star Link until October. Our Wi-Fi is running off of our old internet provider. All the wired devices are on Star Link.
Speeds are varying throughout the day. Early morning is our lowest, and the time we least use the Internet. We are getting speeds of 20-25 Mbps in the morning – which is quite slow for Star Link. If I reboot the system, not just the router, but the whole system the speeds go back up to the 80’s to 110 Mbps. It is my understanding that once more satellites are launched that the system will get better. I am more than pleased with it now. 20-25 Mbps is still more than I was getting before.
Star Link requires a view to the north. We have a clear wide open view to the south (of course). I wonder what reception will be like once more satellites are added to the network.
